JUST MY TYPE: This project was a dive into one historical and one contemporary type designer. I decided to work on the iconic Cooper Black by Oswald B. Cooper and the beautifully modern Avenir Next by Adrian Frutiger.
First step was to create an image using the chosen type and displayed as a pangram. The aim was to use the type and showcase its personality or beauty, rather than make something illustrative.
I wanted to showcase both the history of Cooper Black as a type used for advertisement, whilst adding in a more iconic 60's/70's usage.

LAID OUT: The next stage was to create a magazine layout based upon the pangram poster. This would be pitched toward the GoodWeekend magazine featured within the Saturday Age.
The 2 articles would require a cover spread, incorporating the pangram graphic and a story spread, using elements from the pangram graphic and a photo of the type designer. I was also wanted to add a historical aspect to the Cooper Black spread. I kept the Frutiger spread modern and aligned myself with Frutiger's own principles.
